About the position

The Accounting Operations Lead Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the processes and activities of the accounting operations department, ensuring efficiency and compliance. This role involves providing advanced expertise in accounts payable, vendor management, and basic accounting, while also serving as a support to management. The coordinator seeks continuous improvement opportunities and collaborates with various business partners to maintain accuracy and confidentiality in all operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the process activities of the accounting operations department to ensure deadlines are met and associates are trained.
  • Develop, apply, and execute accounting operations related statements of process, ensuring proper controls and accurate recording.
  • Collaborate with management on policy updates and oversee compliance.
  • Assist with monthly general ledger reconciliation reviews and variance inquiries, and communicate with internal and external partners on discrepancies.
  • Maintain and update the business continuity plan and arrange annual test exercises for the department.
  • Serve as lead support for external and internal audits and annual 1099 reporting compliance.
  • Identify and implement changes in accounting operations processes as needed.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and participate in special projects as required.
  • Mentor less experienced staff and act as a subject matter expert for accounting operations.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in Accounting Operations (Accounts Payable, Vendor Management, Accounts Receivable, and/or Bookkeeping).
  • General working knowledge of accounting practices.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or commensurate experience.
