We are seeking an experienced Accounting Payroll Contractor to process and manage the company's payroll as well as to support the accounting team with general accounting activities. This role will report to the Senior Accounting Manager. The Payroll Contractor should be able to use payroll software with accuracy and efficiency. They should be good with numbers and able to be trusted with sensitive information. They should also have great communication skills to interact with colleagues and executives as well as a solid understanding of general accounting practices with regard to expenses processing and posting. The main goal is to ensure personnel receive the correct compensation in a timely manner, however this position will also support the Senior Accounting Manager with general accounting activities. We are looking for a self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced environment as well as performing general accounting activities.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for payroll processing and partners with HR to maintain accurate payroll and employee databases
  • Run US payroll twice per month in BambooHr, Canada payroll twice per month in ADP and prepare international employees' variable payroll input to submit to payroll processing company
  • Process state registrations, if applicable
  • Review and research payroll related letters and reply to them timely
  • Review payroll to ensure accuracy for annual reporting as well as W-2 processing
  • Support monthly and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and accruals
  • Assist employees with payroll related questions
  • Assist with the annual external audit
  • Resolve any issues/questions by supervisor or other parties in a timely and professional manner
  • Reconcile benefit accounts monthly
  • Assist the accounting team with special projects, administrative tasks, and other accounting and reporting related work (e.g., analyzing expenses and identifying cost-saving measures).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of payroll and accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business or accounting required
  • Proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment required
  • Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws
  • ERP system knowledge is required
  • Good understanding of the common fiscal procedures and US GAAP
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
  • Advanced excel skills, including Vlookups and Pivot tables.
  • Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
  • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
