About the position

The Accounting/Payroll Specialist at Recreation Centers of Sun City West is responsible for the preparation and submission of bi-weekly payroll and related financial activities. This role ensures timely and accurate payroll processing while adhering to regulatory changes and maintaining confidentiality regarding employee pay and personnel matters. The specialist will also support various accounting functions and assist in compliance reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Review, update, and adjust employees' time and attendance activities using an automated timekeeping system.
  • Process ACH banking transfer files for bi-weekly payroll.
  • Receive and process garnishments directly to Paycom.
  • Maintain and update payroll wage tables and benefit offerings.
  • Prepare journal entries for bi-weekly payrolls and month-end payrolls, including vacation accruals and profit share.
  • Generate payroll reports and verify data for accuracy.
  • Assemble federal taxes, withholding, and unemployment records and reports.
  • Manage 401K and profit-sharing data accuracy, confirming eligibility for employer match.
  • Complete required Bureau of Labor Statistic online monthly reports.
  • Maintain payroll records for health, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits.
  • Assist auditors as requested and provide backup support for other accounting staff.
  • Process and reconcile member refund checks and accounts payable vendors as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree in business or accounting preferred.
  • Two years of payroll experience required; direct experience with Paycom highly desired.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws related to payroll and benefits required.
  • Understanding of Affordable Care Act requirements and compliance required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, required.
