About the position

The Accounting Policy Analyst position at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh is designed for professional development within the Finance department, specifically focusing on Accounting Policy, SOX compliance, and Data Management. The role involves assisting with the Bank's adherence to GAAP, preparing technical accounting entries, testing internal controls, and supporting data governance initiatives. This position offers exposure to various functions within the department, including SEC Reporting and Accounting Operations, making it a comprehensive role for those looking to grow in the finance sector.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining the Bank Accounting Policy Manual, including researching and applying new GAAP rules.
  • Research accounting literature for application to new products and transactions.
  • Draft accounting memoranda for new accounting pronouncements and business transactions.
  • Provide technical support on accounting and reporting matters.
  • Express opinions and provide updates on emerging accounting issues to the Chief Accounting Officer.
  • Assist with preparing complex portions of financial statement footnotes and MD&A for SEC filings.
  • Assist with the execution of tests of key controls for SOX compliance.
  • Support the development and maintenance of SOX internal control documentation.
  • Assist with the development of a Finance department data management program.
  • Assist with the preparation of various aspects of the SEC reporting process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, or Internal Audit
  • CPA preferred
  • Ability to research and evaluate accounting policies and transactions; working knowledge of GAAP
  • Knowledge of SEC reporting requirements, including provisions of Sarbanes-Oxley Act
  • Financial reporting skills, including working knowledge of financial statements and reporting requirements
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data flow
  • Strong project management skills with the capability to prioritize multiple demands
  • Financial services industry knowledge preferred
