About the position

The Accounting Project Manager will oversee federal programs and projects, focusing on process improvement, financial reconciliations, and compliance. This role requires extensive knowledge in financial management and project management, particularly within the public sector. The individual will act as a subject matter expert, advising senior management and leading teams to achieve compliance and strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Managing Federal programs/projects involving process improvement, reconciliations, GTAS, Journal Vouchers, IPAC, intragovernmental transactions, PP&E, capitalization, depreciation, and financial statements.
  • Managing client initiatives, including resource management, executive readouts, project plans, activity management, and gateway communication.
  • Setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and making decisions affecting the project.
  • Developing and implementing financial compliance processes to monitor the organization's reliability compliance performance.
  • Working collaboratively and acting in a lead role as a subject matter expert within a team environment to meet aggressive goals and pre-defined measurement criteria.
  • Developing short and long-range plans to prioritize issues, develop program objectives, obtain needed resources, and meet reliability compliance program objectives.
  • Advising senior management on a broad variety of reliability compliance, risk management, and strategic issues.
  • Demonstrating extensive knowledge serving in a leadership role applying core project management processes as defined in the PMBOK.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 8+ years of Financial Management and transformation experience
  • 8+ years of proven track record in supporting Public Sector projects
  • 5+ years accounting project management
  • 5+ years of providing support in the areas of reconciliations, GTAS, IPP, PP&E, and JVs
  • Identifying and addressing client needs: developing and sustaining deep client relationships using networking, negotiation, and persuasion skills
  • Preparing and presenting complex written and verbal materials and defining resource requirements, project workflow, budgets, billing, and collection
  • Leading teams to generate a vision, establishing direction and motivating members, creating an atmosphere of trust, leveraging diverse views, coaching staff, and actively promoting continuous improvement and innovation
  • Exceptional work ethic, work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines, use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals
  • Utilizing project management software and technologies, such as Microsoft Project with attention to details
  • Familiarity with Federal Oracle Financials is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is desired but not required
  • PMP certification is a plus
  • Familiarity with financial and operational internal controls is a plus.
