About the position

The Accounting Senior Manager is a pivotal role within Visa's treasury accounting team, located in Foster City, CA. This position is responsible for overseeing all treasury-related accounting activities, including cash management, settlements, investments, and derivatives. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Corporate Accounting, the Senior Manager will lead a team of four employees, primarily based in Foster City, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting related to treasury operations. In this role, the Senior Manager will oversee the monthly close process for all treasury activities, ensuring that all journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analyses are completed accurately. As the subject matter expert in treasury accounting, the Senior Manager will lead cash accounting activities for over 40 accounts across more than 10 legal entities, utilizing the Quantum cash accounting tool. This includes maintaining the Quantum system and managing the interface between Quantum and the Oracle general ledger, ensuring proper account setups for new bank accounts and GL accounts. The Senior Manager will also oversee the accounting of settlement collaterals and Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL), lead variance analysis before and after the close, and provide insights into trends and significant transactions. The role requires a strong understanding of US GAAP accounting guidance and the ability to develop close relationships with various business functions, including Treasury, Tax, and Technical Accounting, to ensure accurate transaction recording. Additionally, the Senior Manager will support the preparation and review of 10K and 10Q filings, including footnotes and disclosures related to treasury accounting. Identifying potential treasury-related risk areas and providing recommendations for mitigation will be crucial. The role emphasizes a culture of continuous improvement, promoting automation of manual processes and standardization of procedures. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for managing, developing, and coaching a high-performing team, fostering collaboration and continuous learning while ensuring compliance with SOX requirements and participating in quarterly audits.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the monthly close process for all Treasury related activity including journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysis.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for all treasury related accounting matters.
  • Lead cash accounting activity for over 40 accounts across 10+ legal entities using the Quantum cash accounting tool.
  • Maintain the Quantum system and manage the interface between Quantum and the Oracle general ledger.
  • Oversee the accounting of settlement collaterals and Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL).
  • Lead pre-close and post-close variance analysis and provide insights into activity and trends.
  • Utilize sound judgement to interpret and apply US GAAP accounting guidance and company policies.
  • Develop close relationships across business functions such as Treasury, Tax, and Technical Accounting.
  • Partner with global accounting team members to ensure proper settlement of intercompany transactions.
  • Support the preparation and review of 10K and 10Q filings, including footnotes and disclosures related to Treasury accounting.
  • Identify potential treasury related risk areas and provide recommendations to mitigate such risks.
  • Instill a culture of continuous improvement and automation of processes.
  • Manage, develop, and coach a strong team, promoting collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Ensure SOX compliance by adhering to internal control requirements and maintaining updated documentation.
  • Participate in quarterly KPMG audit and PBC requests for financial reporting.

Requirements

  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD.
  • 8 or more years of work experience with a bachelor's degree in accounting with a focus on Treasury Accounting.
  • CPA or equivalent with clear progressive professional accounting experience, preferably in a publicly traded company and/or with a public accounting firm.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, specifically ASC 815 (Derivatives and Hedging), ASC 820 (Fair Value Measurement), and ASC 320 (Investments in Debt and Equity Securities).
  • Experience with CECL accounting.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills with a track record of building and leading high performing teams.
  • Relevant Sarbanes Oxley experience.
  • Experience with financial systems and treasury accounting applications, including Oracle, Quantum, Blackline, and Reval.
  • Strong accounting, quantitative and analytical skills, and ability to accurately apply key U.S. GAAP to different business situations.
  • Strong team player who collaborates well with others to solve problems and incorporates input from various sources.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Change oriented with the ability to generate process improvements and drive change initiatives.
