Boise Cascade Company has been a leader in the manufacturing of wood products and distribution of building materials for over fifty years. We are currently seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring the integrity of our accounting records and supporting our financial operations. The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for a variety of routine accounting support duties, which include verifying, posting, adding, computing, matching, balancing, and summarizing routine documents. This position will also assist in the preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of ledger accounts, and the generation of reports and schedules. In this role, the Accounting Specialist will prepare, complete, analyze, and report accounting transactions while maintaining system integrity. The focus will be on ensuring the profitability of sales and verifying transactions. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement. Additionally, the Accounting Specialist will maintain strong working relationships with customers and perform other duties as assigned. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented and has a passion for accounting and finance.
Responsibilities
- Verify, post, add, compute, match, balance, and summarize routine accounting documents.
- Assist in the preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of ledger accounts.
- Prepare, complete, analyze, and report accounting transactions and system maintenance.
- Ensure integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles.
- Maintain strong working relationships with customers.
- Focus on profitability of sales and verifying transactions.
- Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or two (2) years equivalent work experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior accounts receivable and collections experience.
- One (1) year of demonstrated experience in an accounting function.
