About the position

Insero & Co. is seeking to hire an experienced Accounting Specialist/Bookkeeper to join our firm in Rochester, NY. This position is integral to supporting our internal finance and accounting department. The successful candidate will report directly to our Controller and Assistant Controller, providing essential support with various accounting, billing, and reporting responsibilities. The role offers flexibility, allowing for a hybrid work structure where employees can work in the office every day or remotely for up to two days a week. However, it is important to note that this position does not offer a 100% remote work option. Our office has recently been remodeled and is located in the heart of downtown Rochester, providing easy access to a variety of restaurants and events. The office features collaboration spaces, a game room, and firm-paid underground parking in a secure garage. Responsibilities

  • Run and disperse WIP reports weekly
  • Entering billing for select team members
  • Review, post and send out billing, and review write-off for approvals
  • Enter deposits into Practice and QuickBooks
  • Contact clients about late, missing, or incorrect payments
  • Email A/R reports weekly
  • Send productivity reports weekly
  • Responsible for setting up new clients and making any necessary changes
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports for team members when requested
  • Process invoices using QuickBooks, Bill.com or Credit card
  • Review monthly statements received and resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Review/Match receipts to credit card statements, prepare journal entry upload and reconcile in QuickBooks
  • Review receipts for appropriate sales tax
  • Enter client chargeables into Practice
  • Responsible for Sales tax report (quarterly)
  • Process expense reports monthly
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate degree in accounting is required (bachelor's degree in accounting a plus)
  • Minimum of four+ years of accounting experience as a full charge bookkeeper (accrual basis accounting, not cash basis) or experience as an accountant working in a professional services or financial services company
  • Ability to work in a deadline focused environment, be proactive, and possess solid multi-tasking skills along with focusing on quality and accuracy
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, and Bill.com is preferred
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills are also essential
