The Onboarding Accounting Specialist will be a key member of the Initialization Team within the Uplinq Onboarding Department. This role involves close collaboration with Onboarding Specialists to provide initial bookkeeping services to clients, as well as creating, documenting, and executing bookkeeping Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Initialization Team is crucial to the Uplinq experience, as it is responsible for identifying and implementing unique processes required for each client's accounting system. Additionally, this team handles a portion of catch-up bookkeeping, making it an ideal position for someone who thrives in a dynamic and innovative environment and seeks to make a significant impact in the fintech industry. The ideal candidate will enjoy tackling complex accounting and data scenarios, including integrating external data and systems into clients' accounting frameworks. They will have public accounting experience, having worked with various small businesses to provide bookkeeping and financial reporting. Strong problem-solving skills are essential for efficiently managing complex catch-up and clean-up projects. The candidate will also engage effectively with high-value clients to optimize their account setups and enhance their overall experience with Uplinq's services. Leadership in bookkeeping tasks, ensuring consistency and accuracy in categorization, job costing, and reconciliation, is also a key aspect of this role. The candidate should excel in communication, capable of clearly conveying intricate accounting data to clients as needed, and possess a solid foundation in both cash and accrual-based accounting, with a preference for those with multi-client experience. Expertise in financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and U.S. GAAP compliance is essential, along with a Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related fields being preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Onboarding Specialists to provide initial bookkeeping to clients.
  • Create, document, and execute bookkeeping Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Handoff clients to the maintenance bookkeeping team after initial setup.
  • Handle a portion of catch-up bookkeeping tasks.
  • Engage effectively with high-value clients to optimize their account setups.
  • Lead and support a team in bookkeeping tasks, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Transition companies to maintenance bookkeeping, ensuring a seamless handoff.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clients regarding intricate accounting data.
  • Drive continuous improvement in Uplinq's automated bookkeeping systems.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in public accounting with a focus on small businesses.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for managing complex catch-up and clean-up projects.
  • Experience in cash and accrual-based accounting, preferably with multi-client experience.
  • Expertise in financial statement preparation and reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP compliance is essential.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related fields is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with QuickBooks Online and troubleshooting within the platform.
  • Familiarity with machine learning applications in accounting.
