About the position

The Accounting Specialist: Payroll at Central Minnesota Mental Health Center is responsible for maintaining accounting records and processing biweekly payroll for the agency. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate payroll management and compliance with financial regulations, contributing to the overall mission of supporting mental health services in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll.
  • Review and enter bi-weekly empower files for employee deferral changes and loans from the plan.
  • Prepare ACH files for direct deposits and child support garnishments.
  • Prepare payroll tax wire.
  • Prepare paper payroll checks for signature by CFO.
  • Assist the Accounting Manager in preparing annual census for retirement plan and during annual retirement plan audit as needed.
  • Balance year end payroll to ensure accuracy of W-2 processing.
  • Code and reconcile monthly credit card statement.
  • Process education leave and dollars requests in absence of Accounts Payable Specialist.
  • Prepare invoices for contracts and record revenue accordingly.
  • Assist Accounting Manager and Chief Financial Officer with audit work paper preparation, field work requests and special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Clear DHS Background Study.
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2-4 year degree in accounting preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer programs including but not limited to word, excel, outlook and electronic health record (EHR) software.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
