About the position

The Accounting Specialist-Payroll role at McDonald's is a full-time position within the Payroll Services Department, part of the Global Finance Team. This position is responsible for managing payroll processes for over 60,000 employees globally, focusing on higher-level payroll concepts, global mobility, and continuous process improvement. The specialist will engage in various payroll procedures, general ledger reconciliation, data analytics, and reporting, ensuring compliance and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and utilize unique payroll requirements associated with expatriates, including tax applications and earnings adjustments.
  • Execute procedures for inpat shadow payroll processes and local taxation reporting.
  • Monitor mobility payroll cycles and resolve exceptions promptly.
  • Run queries and prepare journal entries for expatriate labor costs distribution.
  • Employ technical skills using corporate systems and advanced Excel or SQL tools.
  • Collaborate with IT, Legal, and Benefits teams on payroll inquiries.
  • Exhibit teamwork and communicate effectively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills in support of crew and management.
  • Complete ad hoc projects as needed.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.

Requirements

  • 1.5+ years of experience processing and/or calculating payroll and analyzing financial data.
  • 1.5+ years of customer service experience in a professional office setting.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work both individually and as a team member.
  • Capability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Aptitude toward technology and applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior expat payroll experience preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
  • Payroll Certification preferred.
  • Experience working with Payroll System preferred.
