About the position

The Accounting Specialist at Veterinary Information Network (VIN) is responsible for supporting the accounting functions of the organization, which serves veterinarians globally. This role involves managing various accounting tasks including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for both in-office and remote work, and requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and software.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the preparation and monitoring of the month-end process.
• Run desktop deposits and analyze, research, and record sales receipts.
• Perform account and bank reconciliations, journal entries, and update annual budgets.
• Report on credit card transactions and compile merchant account documents and receipts.
• Monitor and close purchase requisitions.
• Assist with accounts payable and sales tax as needed.
• Perform all other related duties as required.

Requirements

• 3 years of accounting experience in various facets including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with QuickBooks and Xero Accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Nice-to-haves

• Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Familiarity with sales and use tax regulations.
