About the position

The Accounting Specialist at Veterinary Information Network (VIN) plays a crucial role in supporting the accounting functions of the organization, which serves veterinarians globally. This position involves a variety of accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting, all while working in a hybrid environment that combines in-office and remote work. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and be proficient in various accounting software and tools.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the preparation and monitoring of the month-end process.
• Run desktop deposits and analyze, research, and record sales receipts.
• Perform account and bank reconciliations, journal entries, and update annual budgets.
• Report on credit card transactions and compile merchant account documents and receipts.
• Monitor and close purchase requisitions.
• Assist with accounts payable and sales tax as needed.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Broad accounting experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills and knowledge of GAAP and tax guidelines.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions Software and Xero Accounting system.
• Ability to prepare journals and bank reconciliations, and apply credits and debits to open AP or AR transactions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to research and resolve discrepancies.

Nice-to-haves

• Basic knowledge of sales and use tax.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
