In this position, you will be responsible for executing client engagements from start to finish, ensuring that all phases of the engagement are coordinated effectively while adhering to budget allocations. You will maintain continuous contact with clients throughout the year, developing a comprehensive understanding of their businesses. As the main contact for new client onboarding, you will ensure that all duties are performed efficiently, typically requiring 55-60 hours per week during busy seasons and 40-45 hours during non-busy seasons. Additionally, you will supervise and lead a team, assigning work based on staff capabilities, preparing performance evaluations, and participating in staff training. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering staff engagement and retention, as well as in developing meaningful recognition programs. Furthermore, you will engage in professional and personal development activities, working with a mentor to chart your career path, participating in community events, and serving as a mentor to junior staff. This role also involves expanding services for existing clients and achieving client retention targets, as well as cross-selling and upselling goals. Responsibilities

  • Execute client engagements from start to finish, coordinating all phases of the engagement while ensuring budget allocations are achieved.
  • Supervise the preparation of all work products to be provided to the client.
  • Maintain continuous contact with clients throughout the business year and develop a thorough understanding of the client and all facets of their business.
  • Act as the main contact for new client onboarding.
  • Maintain confidentiality with client information in accordance with related laws and regulations and adhere to all SVA policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all duties are performed efficiently, typically requiring 55-60 hours/week during busy season and 40-45 hours/week during non-busy season.
  • Assign work to staff members based on their knowledge and capabilities.
  • Prepare and discuss staff performance evaluations.
  • Participate in the training of staff members, offering guidance and constructive feedback on work papers.
  • Effectively lead others and be actively involved with staff development, ownership of staff engagement and retention, and conducting stay interviews.
  • Actively participate in interview panels.
  • Transfer client relationships to junior staff to ensure appropriate work is performed at each level.
  • Provide individualized and meaningful recognition to staff members, focusing on intrinsic rewards.
  • Align with the firm strategy and communicate developments to staff, explaining the 'why.'
  • Work with a mentor to continue developing your career path.
  • Participate and/or lead in SVA and community events, professional, civic, or charitable organizations.
  • Actively participate in a business and/or industry association.
  • Utilize internal and external learning opportunities.
  • Serve as a mentor to multiple members of the accounting staff.
  • Expand services for existing clients and achieve client retention targets.
  • Achieve new and existing cross-selling and upselling goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3-6 years' experience in public accounting required.
  • CPA, EA, or equivalent certification required.
