About the position

The Accounting Technician (Database Administrator) position at the Department of the Treasury is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the database and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This role involves generating reports, performing internal balancing operations, and conducting research to correct discrepancies in the database or general ledger. The position is permanent and full-time, with occasional travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the database is balanced at all times and maintain system integrity.
  • Generate reports in the appropriate format and distribute them according to scheduled time frames.
  • Perform research to correct discrepancies in the database or general ledger to ensure timely and accurate reports.
  • Conduct internal balancing operations of the system.
  • Release all weekly, monthly, and yearly reports as prescribed by IRM guidelines.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, including experience with accounting procedures and techniques.
  • Experience with automated accounting control systems and manual procedures, including account structures and classifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a federal financial environment.
  • Knowledge of IRS guidelines and regulations.
