About the position

The City of Menifee's Finance Department is seeking a qualified and motivated individual for the Accounting Technician II/Senior Accounting Technician position. This role involves performing complex paraprofessional accounting duties, including the preparation and maintenance of accounting records and financial transactions such as payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. The position requires a detail-oriented and organized individual who can work in a fast-paced environment and provide technical accounting support to professional staff in the Finance Department.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of complex paraprofessional accounting duties in the preparation, maintenance, and processing of accounting records and financial transactions.
• Maintain City financial accounts and records and assist in the preparation of financial reports and analysis.
• Provide responsible technical accounting support to professional staff in the Finance Department.
• Exercise technical and functional direction over lower-level staff as needed.

Requirements

• Equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by college coursework in accounting, computer applications, or a related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in general accounting, accounts payable, or accounts receivable for Accounting Technician II.
• Equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by college coursework from an accredited college leading to an Associate's Degree in Accounting or a related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible and complex accounting, payroll, and purchasing experience including some lead worker experience for Senior Accounting Technician.

Nice-to-haves

• A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field is highly desirable.

• Salary range of $59,975.74 - $76,961.90 Annually for Accounting Technician II and $65,936.98 - $84,611.89 Annually for Senior Accounting Technician.
