About the position

The Accounting Technician at Purdue University is responsible for providing customer service and support across various university departments by utilizing ARIBA PO invoicing. This role involves communication with account clerks, business administrators, and suppliers to ensure accurate payment processing and resolution of outstanding invoices. The technician will also handle vendor changes, monitor blocked invoices, and assist in the review of financial reports, all while adhering to university policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service and support utilizing ARIBA PO invoicing.
  • Communicate with account clerks, business administrators, University staff, and suppliers to provide payment information.
  • Key and audit payments to vendors.
  • Review, reconcile, and approve invoices.
  • Ensure credits are applied correctly and follow up with vendors for check issuance when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot misapplied payments and process check voids and reissues.
  • Process ACH returns and update vendor banking information based on daily ACH reports.
  • Initiate vendor change requests and wire transfer requests for ARIBA payments.
  • Monitor and address emails received in [email protected].
  • Weekly review of blocked invoices and open credits, working with departments to clear GRIR issues.
  • Assist in reviewing and processing financial reports such as the exceptions report and GRIR report.
  • Create and update documentation for ARIBA PO invoice processes.
  • Interpret, apply, and communicate University and department policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three years of account clerk, clerical business experience, or related experience
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal communication and telephone etiquette skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal customer service skills
  • Ability to identify problems, analyze information, determine and implement solutions
  • Accurate skills in typing, word processing, data entry, and proofreading
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Detailed knowledge of university policies and procedures
  • Ability to provide functional supervision to staff.
