About the position

CGS is seeking a Mid-Level Accounting Technician to support the mission of a large federal agency. This role involves managing accounts payable, reimbursement activities, collections, and account oversight, contributing to government innovation through collaboration and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable and reimbursement activities.
  • Oversee collections and account oversight.
  • Adjust payroll/labor transactions via re-org processing.
  • Process federal government travel in accordance with policies and regulations.
  • Verify, analyze, and maintain financial information for the DOJ Office of the Comptroller.
  • Utilize various electronic software and databases to analyze complex data sets.
  • Record and retrieve financial data related to reimbursable and billing processes.
  • Track expenditures of multiple accounts using a financial management system.
  • Generate reconciliation reports and reconcile financial books/reports weekly.
  • Prepare financial reports and documentation for review by the DOJ Office of the Comptroller and other U.S. Government agencies.
  • Assist with UFMS transaction processing and suggest resolutions for system errors.
  • Compose memorandums and letters to outside vendors and agencies as needed.
  • Manage databases, maintain office files, and assist with web conferences and office events.
  • Perform other duties necessary for regular or special projects.

Requirements

  • Two-year degree in accounting or four-year degree in a related field with 30 credit hours in accounting.
  • Knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems used by financial institutions.
  • Experience with commitments, obligations, and interagency reimbursement agreements.
  • Experience with quarterly review, accrual, and closeout processes.
  • Ability to provide analysis and technical support for financial activities.
  • Ability to research and analyze financial data.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in UFSM, JEDI, SAFARI, E-2, and Excel.
  • Experience in budgeting cycle management.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) management.
  • Experience with reimbursable agreements analysis and management.
  • Skills in auditing and accounting services, cash flow analysis, and statistical analysis.
  • Experience in financial fraud-related research and electronic data acquisition.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, time management, and organization.
