About the position

The Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Specialist at J.J. Barney Construction Inc. is responsible for managing the accounts payable and billing processes. This role involves overseeing the workflow of vendor invoices from receipt to payment and managing customer billing from invoice creation to payment collection. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and organizational skills, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions while maintaining positive relationships with vendors and customers.

Responsibilities

• Entering vendor invoices into AP workflow, securing proper approvals, and following the invoice through to completion of payment.
• Reconciliation of credit card statements, including securing receipts as needed.
• Reconciliation of bank statements and vendor statements.
• Responding professionally to vendor and customer inquiries.
• Maintaining a positive working relationship with vendors and customers.
• Providing administrative assistance to the accounting department.
• Collaborating with Project Managers to prepare customer billing.
• Preparing notices of commencements, waivers, and sworn statements.
• Monitoring aging reports and partnering with Project Managers to collect on past due invoices.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of experience working with accounts payable and billing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software programs.
• Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Good time management and organizational skills.
• Self-motivated and able to meet deadlines.
