About the position

The Accounts Payable and Payroll Accountant at Gordons Fine Wines is a full-time role focused on managing accounts payable and payroll functions within a dynamic and growing company. This position reports to the Controller and Director of HR and involves collaboration with employees across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and a willingness to learn, contributing to the Finance team's success in a challenging and rewarding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate AP voucher entry (both manually and via AP automation)
  • Manage AP automation system including all scanning and approval workflows
  • Apply correct general ledger and project codes to the AP vouchers
  • Respond to vendor phone and mail inquiries
  • Review and process employee expense reports bi-weekly
  • Coordinate processing of vendor payments weekly
  • Communicate any vendor pricing or payment timing issues and assist in resolving disputes
  • Complete vendor reconciliations monthly
  • Assist in posting cash receipts and researching banking activity as needed
  • Assist with various business process improvements
  • Back-up to various team member functions
  • Meet all process and reporting deadlines
  • Process payroll for employees accurately and on time
  • Calculate and enter payroll deductions, such as taxes, benefits, and garnishments
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation
  • Resolve any payroll discrepancies or issues in a timely manner
  • Generate payroll reports for management and accounting purposes
  • Assist with year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' Accounts Payable and/or payroll experience or related experience
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively
  • Process improvement mindset
  • General understanding of automation systems
  • Proficiency with web-based ERP systems (i.e. Oracle NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or Infor)
  • Familiarity with payroll software (i.e. Bamboo HR, Paylocity, Paychex, Workday)
  • Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and payroll laws
  • Experience with benefits administration and managing employee deductions

Nice-to-haves
