About the position

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing accounts payable transactions and assisting with various accounting tasks within the Finance team. This role involves using multiple systems for transaction processing, generating weekly check runs, and initiating electronic payments. The position allows for hybrid work, requiring in-office presence 1-2 days per week for certain tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Processing accounts payable transactions in Concur software, ensuring adherence to internal control protocols.
  • Communicating with vendors and coworkers to resolve accounts payable issues.
  • Exporting accounts payable and expense transaction details from source systems and verifying imported data against statements and budgets.
  • Leading vendor payment processing via Avid Pay and ACH, with a weekly processing deadline.
  • Assisting with monthly bank reconciliations and building reconciliations.
  • Providing support and backup for building accounting needs.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in accounting or a combination of accounting education and 1 year of experience.
  • Experience or education in accrual accounting and the expense accounting cycle.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfort with remote meeting applications (MS Teams, Zoom).
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work with high integrity and work ethic.
  • Commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse personalities and cultures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • 2+ years of applicable accounting experience.
  • Experience with SAP Concur.
  • Experience with Abila (MIP) fund accounting software.
  • Experience with Avid and/or Conservice.
  • Experience in affordable housing, property management, or real estate development accounting.
