About the position

The Accounts Payable Specialist role at Robert Half is a contract-to-hire opportunity based in Houston, Texas, within the manufacturing industry. This position involves a blend of office and remote work, focusing on the payment disbursement team. The specialist will be responsible for managing the full cycle of accounts payable, ensuring accurate processing of payments, and maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders while adhering to strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently process customer credit applications
  • Maintain detailed and accurate customer credit records
  • Manage full cycle accounts payable with a focus on payment posting, ACH, wire transfers, and check runs
  • Regularly review and manage aging reports, pulling blocked payment reports as necessary
  • Update client information and relay critical updates to other teams
  • Handle payment runs and ACH, ensuring timely and accurate completion
  • Conduct payment reconciliations and update vendor information as required
  • Process refunds and utilize MS Great Plains Dynamics as needed
  • Assist in monthly closings as required
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, maintaining compliance with delegated authority.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) procedures and processes
  • Experience with SAP and MS Great Plains Dynamics software
  • Knowledge of check runs and posting payments, with a focus on accuracy
  • Understanding of full cycle processes in an accounts payable role
  • Ability to generate and interpret aging reports
  • Experience in account reconciliation and problem-solving discrepancies
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field preferred
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing industry is a plus
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
