About the position

The Accounts Receivable Accountant at GRID Alternatives plays a crucial role in the accounting department, focusing on managing contracts, grant letters, and invoicing processes. This position is integral to ensuring timely collection of receivables and supporting the overall financial operations of the organization. The role emphasizes teamwork, communication, and adherence to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, code, and enter payments into the accounting system, meeting tight deadlines for weekly and period close.
  • Create customer invoices.
  • Process daily and month-end account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and process daily deposits.
  • Ensure receivables are collected according to terms.
  • Review and evaluate contracts and agreements.
  • Analyze aging reports related to billing.
  • Address internal and external accounts receivable inquiries.
  • Communicate with customers and respond to their inquiries.
  • Monitor the accounts receivable email inbox, responding to inquiries and organizing messages.
  • Prepare backup documentation for invoicing.
  • Process weekly check deposits.
  • Assist in other accounting responsibilities on an as-needed basis.
  • Ensure that records are updated in multiple cloud-based systems.
  • Maintain CFDA Schedule (Government Contracts and Federal Funds).
  • Plan, coordinate and resolve accounting matters with other accounting team members, departments, and clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Experience with automated financial systems, including a general ledger system.
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to carry out assigned tasks timely and efficiently.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, handle pressure well, self-motivated and diligent.
