About the position

The Accounts Receivable Analyst at James Emmett and Company is responsible for managing customer receivables, ensuring timely resolution of open balances, and maintaining account reconciliations. This role emphasizes analytical skills and effective communication with both internal teams and customers, supporting the company's mission of inclusive employment for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the aging of customer receivables and take corrective action to resolve open accounts receivable balances promptly.
  • Establish and maintain account reconciliations using an analytical approach.
  • Accomplish monthly team productivity goals and currency objectives.
  • Manage a portfolio of accounts, including customer calls, resolution process development, account adjustments, reconciliations, and monthly reporting.
  • Analyze large amounts of data and present analysis effectively.
  • Work directly with customers regarding delinquent payments, investigate discrepancies, and recommend resolutions.
  • Provide professional service regarding sensitive issues, effectively answering questions and resolving customer concerns.
  • Make recommendations for collections efforts and escalate issues with customer accounts to Accounting and Sales Management.
  • Hold monthly conference calls and communicate effectively with Sales Management regarding the status of customer accounts.
  • Review collection techniques and provide feedback to management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years business-to-business accounts receivable experience.
  • Basic understanding of 3rd party invoice portal systems.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office products, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical, data mining, and report creation skills.
  • Superior Excel skills, including V look-ups and pivot tables.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, including grammar, verbal, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with customer service, transportation systems, proof of deliveries, shortages, damages, and deduction resolution.
  • Exceptional negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to embrace change and work as a change agent to improve the Accounts Receivable process.
