About the position

The Accounts Receivable Clerk position at Water of Life Community Church is a vital role within the Finance Ministry, responsible for managing the church's receivables with accuracy and discretion. This position will not commence until no earlier than November 4th, 2024, and will require between 25 to 32 hours of work per week, depending on departmental needs. The starting hourly wage ranges from $20.20 to $22.72, reflecting the importance of this role in ensuring the financial integrity of the church's operations. In this role, the clerk will be tasked with receiving, securing, processing, depositing, and reporting on receivables in a timely and efficient manner. The position demands a high level of confidentiality, particularly regarding contributions received from donors. The clerk will prepare weekly deposits, batch check deposits for electronic transfer, and ensure that all contributions are accurately recorded in the donor modules. Additionally, the clerk will be responsible for maintaining these modules and generating various financial reports for senior leadership and ministries as needed. The role also includes processing non-contribution receivables, verifying coding, and managing the generation and distribution of year-end giving statements. The clerk will interact with donors to address inquiries about their contributions and will serve as the primary contact for the servant leaders overseeing the counter ministry. Training sessions will be established in collaboration with the Accounting Manager to ensure that all team members are well-equipped to handle their responsibilities. The clerk will also manage cash requirements for mission trips and other requests, track and order inventory supplies related to accounts receivable, and participate in church events and activities as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, secure, process, deposit, and report on receivables in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Safeguard the secure holding of receivables and maintain strict confidentiality of contributions received.
  • Prepare weekly deposits and batch check deposits for electronic transfer to the bank.
  • Ensure all contributions to the church are recorded accurately in the donor modules.
  • Maintain the donor modules and prepare/generate various reports for senior leadership and ministries weekly.
  • Process non-contribution receivables, verify coding, and generate reports weekly.
  • Manage the process of generating and dispersing year-end giving statements accurately and timely.
  • Ensure additional periodic financial reports are prepared as requested by senior leadership.
  • Manage cash requirements for mission trips and other requests.
  • Interact with donors to answer inquiries regarding their contributions.
  • Serve as the primary contact and support to the servant leaders overseeing the counter ministry.
  • Work with the servant leader and the Accounting Manager to establish training sessions with the counter ministry.
  • Track and order tithe and other AR inventory supplies.
  • Participate in church events and activities as assigned.

Requirements

  • College level coursework in accounting or 2 years of professional accounting/bookkeeping experience.
  • Some knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong attention to detail for accuracy.
  • Intermediate knowledge of office technology tools including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with accounting software and ability to learn new technology.
  • Friendly, flexible, able to multitask, and enjoys working with diverse individuals.
