About the position

The Accounts Receivable Clerk position at Optum is a full-time role responsible for managing billing processes, validating insurance coverage, and ensuring accurate invoicing for healthcare services. This hybrid position allows for flexibility in working from home and the office, contributing to the overall efficiency of the billing department. The role involves interacting with customers, resolving billing discrepancies, and processing a high volume of claims, all while adhering to company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Validate patient's insurance coverage and process recurring rentals.
  • Handle claims coding and billing, including price validation.
  • Assist patient accounts with billing discrepancies and payment posting.
  • Work on denials using CareTend management software.
  • Follow up with payers for additional information or payment.
  • Interact with customers to gather support data for invoice accuracy.
  • Monitor outstanding balances and take appropriate actions for payment.
  • Manage the preparation of invoices and reconcile billing with accounts receivables.
  • Conduct quality assurance and audit of billing activities.
  • Resolve questions and problems, referring complex issues to higher levels.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 2+ years' experience in a healthcare setting, specifically in accounts receivable
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Ability to work onsite at 2716 Tenaya Way, Las Vegas, NV
  • Flexibility to work any 8-hour shifts between 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, including occasional overtime.

Nice-to-haves

  • Medicare and/or Medicaid billing experience
  • 2+ years of recent Medical Billing experience in an office setting, including charge entry, payment entry, and AR follow-up
  • Experience in DME/HME, Hospice/Home Health Billing.
