About the position

The Accounts Receivable & Collections Associate at SERVPRO of Fairfield County is responsible for managing customer accounts, developing strategies to mitigate risks associated with overdue payments, and ensuring timely collections. This role involves creating invoices, negotiating payment plans, and collaborating with various departments to maintain operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and negotiation skills, along with a solid understanding of credit and risk management, to thrive in a fast-paced office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze customer accounts to develop strategies for mitigating risks associated with past due bills.
  • Create invoices and ensure customer accounts are current by contacting customers for overdue payments.
  • Negotiate payment plans with customers and maintain detailed documentation of all correspondence.
  • Perform collection calls to customers based on aging accounts and maintain collection tracker spreadsheets in Excel.
  • Prepare monthly reports on payment status and collection efforts, and follow up with customers regularly.
  • Generate invoices in QuickBooks Online and process payments, including credit card and ACH transactions.
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies, and maintain accurate records of invoices, debits, and credits.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in business, finance, or administration preferred.
  • 5 to 8+ years of high-volume collections experience.
  • 5 to 8+ years of accounts payable and receivable knowledge and experience.
  • Proficiency with Online QuickBooks Software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and SharePoint (5+ years).
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in the insurance claims processing industry, restoration, cleaning, or construction industry.
