About the position

Choice Hotels is seeking an Accounts Receivable/Collections Manager to lead the Collections Department. This role involves managing day-to-day activities, improving processes, and ensuring timely collection of payments while maintaining strong relationships with customers. The manager will oversee a team, handle escalations, and collaborate with various operational areas to optimize collections efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the collections team, providing coaching and supervision.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize collections efficiency and effectiveness.
• Continuously evaluate and improve collections systems and processes.
• Partner with other operational areas in the company regarding collection inquiries and reporting.
• Manage defaults, terminations, and write-offs of bad debt expense.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reporting for the department.
• Communicate with Finance leadership on accounts requiring escalation.
• Reconcile disputed accounts and handle customer complaints for large or multi-property licensees.
• Exhibit flexibility in taking on new responsibilities and assist with ad hoc projects.
• Oversee hiring, training, and performance assessment of the collections department.
• Develop, implement, and monitor collections policies and procedures.
• Maintain low Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Credit and collections background is essential.
• Minimum of four years supervisory experience.
• Good conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
• Clear and concise communication skills, both orally and in writing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word; advanced skills in Excel.
• Strong ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
