About the position

The Accounts Receivable & Collections Specialist at ForTec Medical is responsible for managing the overall operations of the Accounts Receivable and Collections Department. This role involves collecting purchase orders, negotiating payment plans, addressing collection issues, and ensuring timely responses to customer inquiries. The position supports the financial health of the organization by maintaining accurate records and facilitating effective communication with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and facilitate the overall operations of the Accounts Receivable and Collections Department.
  • Collect purchase orders (PO) and past due accounts.
  • Negotiate payment plans and alert management of collection issues.
  • Research unapplied cash and answer incoming customer questions and concerns.
  • Make regular collection contact with past due customers and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Monitor the general Accounts Receivable E-mailbox and ensure timely responses to customer inquiries.
  • Apply purchase orders as applicable to the role.
  • Keep immediate supervisor informed of all significant problems or unusual matters.
  • Participate in or support annual or state audit requests.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with established company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate's/Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years recent work experience in accounts receivables, collections calls, and billing in a high-volume environment required.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent judgment and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess problems and develop solutions.
  • Ability to manage high volume activity and multi-tasking is essential.
  • Proficient technical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Microsoft Dynamics/Great Plains experience preferred.
