About the position

The Accounts Receivable Collector is responsible for managing customer accounts receivable, including the collection of outstanding balances and resolving billing discrepancies while ensuring excellent customer service. This role involves processing invoices, utilizing collection management software, and collaborating with management and sales teams to address payment issues.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately process daily invoicing and post to general ledgers.
  • Utilize multiple collection management software for efficient handling of assigned accounts.
  • Research account activity to resolve discrepancies, missed payments, or credits.
  • Knowledge of returns process and ability to service as a backup for this function.
  • Daily use of Excel spreadsheets for AR aging reporting and reconciliation.
  • Make collection calls to customers in a professional manner while maintaining customer relationships.
  • Negotiate payment plans with customers when needed.
  • Review aging of outstanding balances due and follow up with customers timely.
  • Ability to collect on high profile customers with complex aging.
  • Research and trace transactions to resolve outstanding account discrepancies.
  • Influence customers to pay outstanding account balances.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Management Team and Sales Team to resolve payment issues.
  • Work through rebate and chargeback transactions for top distribution customers.
  • Participate in month-end and year-end closings.
  • Assist with audits and cross-train in other functions as needed.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree or equivalent job experience (required).
  • Strong computer and typing skills, including 10 key accuracy.
  • General ledger knowledge for account reconciliations is preferred.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude towards customers and colleagues.
  • Good judgment skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong follow-up, organization, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Word.
