About the position

The primary function of the Accounts Receivable - Floating Cashier position is to provide cashier duties across three campus locations: Dallas, Lincoln, and Kimbrell. This role involves performing a variety of accounting duties, particularly focusing on accounts receivable functions, which require the exercise of independent judgment in accordance with established procedures. The position entails various Business Office activities, including the receipt of monies, management of student accounts, and assistance with registration processes. Additionally, the Floating Cashier will assist in directing students and employees to the appropriate personnel within the Business Office and other departments of the College, as well as providing support to the bookstore at the Lincoln campus. In this role, the individual will perform cashier duties, serving as the window cashier and assisting students, employees, and visitors with their transactions. Responsibilities include processing daily cash receipts from various sources, such as Continuing Education, Bookstore deposits, and mail-in checks. The Floating Cashier will also prepare and scan checks and other documents into the ImageNow system, research and respond to student and employee inquiries, and handle phone calls in the Business Office by logging into and answering calls in the phone queue. Written and oral correspondence with the public is also a key aspect of this position. Maintaining a high standard of professionalism is crucial, as the Floating Cashier will represent the College and must adhere to confidentiality, policies, procedures, and established guidelines. The role requires a commitment to professional accountability and the ability to manage various situations and problems effectively. Collaboration with team members and colleagues is essential to contribute positively to the achievement of team and College objectives, ensuring a high level of service to customers through effective working relationships and partnerships. The Floating Cashier may also serve on institutional committees as required and is expected to attend staff development sessions as necessary. Other related duties incidental to the work may also be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Cashier duties at the Dallas, Lincoln, and Kimbrell campuses.
  • Serve as the window cashier, assisting students, employees, and visitors.
  • Process daily cash receipts from all sources including Continuing Education, Bookstore deposits, and mail-in checks.
  • Prepare and scan checks and other documents into the ImageNow system.
  • Research student and employee questions and concerns to provide additional information as appropriate.
  • Handle phone calls in the Business Office daily by logging into and answering phone calls in the phone queue.
  • Provide written and oral correspondence to the public.
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism in representing the College, including confidentiality in all aspects of the position's responsibilities.
  • Work cooperatively with team members and colleagues, contributing positively to the achievement of team and College objectives.
  • Serve on institutional committees as required or assigned; attend staff development as required.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • One year's experience in accounting required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, required.
  • Capability to work independently and possess excellent customer service skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required.
  • Subject to a background and credit check.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate degree from a regionally accredited college in accounting, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Two years' experience in accounting preferred.
  • Ellusion experience preferred.
