About the position

The Accounts Receivable Manager will oversee the processing of customer payments and cash applications within the Defense Service industry. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate customer credit records and ensuring efficient financial operations. The position is a short-term contract opportunity lasting 3 to 4 months, with local remote work options available, requiring occasional in-office presence.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately apply customer payments to their respective accounts using various methods such as checks, credit cards, and ACH payments.
  • Conduct daily postings of payments into the accounting system, ensuring correct customer accounts, invoices, and transaction codes.
  • Prepare and review batches before sending to the lockbox and reconcile all lockbox files.
  • Investigate and resolve any unapplied or misapplied payments, collaborating with other accounting and customer service teams as needed.
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies, short payments, overpayments, and unapplied cash promptly.
  • Communicate with internal teams and customers to clarify and resolve payment application issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of all cash application transactions, ensuring data integrity and compliance with company policies.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports to support financial closing activities, including aged cash reports, unapplied cash reports, and reconciliation documentation.
  • Identify and suggest process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within cash application functions.
  • Manage multiple inboxes related to internal employee questions and external customer questions.

Requirements

  • Must possess relevant experience in Accounts Receivable (AR) and NetSuite
  • Proficiency in Billing Functions required
  • Experience in managing Cash Activity is necessary
  • Demonstrated skills in Cash Handling
  • Expertise in Cash Applications is essential
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Knowledge of defense service industry is a plus
  • Must adhere to strict confidentiality and data privacy rules.
