About the position

The Accounts Receivable Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all billing-related activities within the organization. This role involves ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, managing financial records, and supervising billing specialists. The manager will also work closely with internal staff and external vendors to maintain efficient billing processes and resolve any account issues.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise the Billing Specialist(s) and other department positions.
  • Monitor or prepare all fee-for-service billing to ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to agency submission timeframes.
  • Ensure Account Receivable balances are within an acceptable range and implement necessary steps to improve them if not.
  • Monitor all private fee balances and report compliance with agency Billing Policy and Procedure to Program Directors and Clinical Supervisors.
  • Monitor payments, denials, and write-offs ensuring they are posted accurately and within required time frames.
  • Reconcile all client account issues.
  • Ensure fiscal closings and all billing software related functions are completed in the required timeframe.
  • Work with site office staff to ensure that all insurance information, procedures, and rules are current and adhered to.
  • Report all coding, pricing, and authorizations updates to the Managing Director of Billing & Support Services for programming into the Cerner software.
  • Work directly with the Managing Director of Billing & Support Services on any internal or external audits.
  • Provide standard and requested reports to the finance or clinical departments monthly, quarterly, annually, or as needed.
  • Adhere to the Code of Ethics and report all concerns and violations to management staff and/or Compliance Officer.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years related experience in the medical billing field.
  • Minimum two (2) years supervision experience.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Working knowledge of all New York state Billing Regulations related to agency programs.
  • Familiarity with New York state insurance policies, including Medicaid.
  • Familiarity with federal payers including Medicare.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Meticulous documentation/recording skills with attention to detail; including excellent time management.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Advanced competency in the use of computer software such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Cerner Millennium experience preferred, other electronic health records systems acceptable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electronic health records systems other than Cerner Millennium.
