About the position

The Accounts Receivable Manager at What Chefs Want! is responsible for overseeing the accounts receivable department, ensuring operational efficiency through continuous process improvement. This hands-on role involves managing a team while also performing detailed tasks related to accounts receivable. The manager will develop policies, set performance goals, and identify opportunities for automation, all while maintaining accurate records and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce accounts receivable policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency
  • Set performance goals, monitor team progress, and foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process enhancements within the accounts receivable department
  • Ensure proper use of the ERP system and accounting software to maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts receivable records
  • Oversee and assign tasks to the accounts receivable specialists in accordance with company policies and objectives
  • Coach, train, and develop current and new staff within the Accounts Receivable department
  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of all customer payments across various payment types, including credit cards, ACH, and checks daily
  • Participate in end-of-month processes and procedures
  • Monitor email inbox and provide responses to customer billing and payment inquiries
  • Assist in the resolution of invoice discrepancies
  • Support external audits related to the accounts receivable function
  • Additional tasks and duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in accounting or a related field, equivalent work experience acceptable
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounts receivable role
  • Previous management experience
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), research, problem-solving and time management skills
  • Strong math, typing and computer skills
  • High level of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
