About the position

Come join our Valley View team as a full-time Accounts Receivable Specialist! This position is responsible for managing insurance accounts receivable and following up on unpaid or incorrectly paid claims. The Accounts Receivable Specialist will also provide backup for key positions throughout the office, ensuring that operations run smoothly in the absence of other team members. Additionally, this role will involve working on special projects as assigned by management, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical billing and health insurance-related policies, processes, and procedures. Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential, as the specialist will frequently interact with patients, insurance companies, and other healthcare professionals. Proficiency in using computers, particularly Windows-based programs, is required, and previous experience with billing software such as Athena or NexGen is preferred. The role demands a collaborative spirit, as the specialist will work within a team environment and may also be responsible for teaching others in the department.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; and one-year related billing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of medical billing and health insurance-related policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to use computers, including Windows-based programs; previous experience with Athena, NexGen preferred.
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in and support a team environment.
  • Ability to teach others.
