About the position

The Accounts Receivable Specialist at Markel Corporation is responsible for managing a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring accurate account maintenance and reconciliation. This role involves follow-up with agents, business partners, and direct insureds regarding billing and payment inquiries to facilitate cash flow. The position requires meeting performance goals set by the Accounts Receivable team Supervisor or Manager within the Specialty Division.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of customer accounts including account maintenance and reconciliation activities.
• Follow up with agents, business partners, and direct insureds on billing and payment inquiries.
• Facilitate accurate cash flow through effective communication and problem-solving.
• Maintain performance as prescribed in performance goals outlined by the Accounts Receivable team Supervisor or Manager.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• General accounts receivable knowledge with a minimum of 1-year accounts receivable experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Digital literacy, especially in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to work within deadlines and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and time management skills.
• Strong data entry skills.
