About the position

The Accounts Receivable Specialist for Solid Waste is responsible for auditing, accounting, and banking for cash transactions and solid waste billings. This role involves managing the accounts receivable system for the department and ensuring proper documentation is maintained for the department, Auditor's Office, and Treasurer's Office. The position requires adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

Responsibilities

  • Audit and account for cash transactions related to solid waste billings.
  • Manage the accounts receivable system for the department.
  • Maintain proper documentation for the department, Auditor's Office, and Treasurer's Office.
  • Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards.
  • Gather and analyze data to prepare accurate reports, memos, and responses to information requests.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Applied Associate's degree or Certification in Bookkeeping/Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience and/or training in accounting or bookkeeping.
  • Knowledge of accounting and governmental accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data for reporting purposes.
  • Typing and data entry skills with speed and accuracy.
  • Possession or ability to obtain a valid First Aid card and CPR certification.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
