About the position

The Accounts Receivable Coordinator position at Myers Tire Supply is a critical role responsible for managing the collection of overdue funds from customers while analyzing the associated credit risks. This position requires a proactive approach to collections, utilizing various techniques to maximize cash flow and minimize bad debt. The coordinator will engage in both inbound and outbound collection calls, directly contacting customers to discuss overdue accounts and understanding the reasons behind non-payment. This role is not only about collecting payments but also involves a significant amount of analysis, where the coordinator will assess financial information and credit risks of assigned customers, making recommendations to the business based on their findings. In addition to collection activities, the Accounts Receivable Coordinator will prepare reports to assist management in understanding the financial status of customer accounts. This includes maintaining accurate records of customer payment statuses and ensuring that all data reflects the current state of accounts. The coordinator will also collaborate closely with the sales team to resolve any disputes that may arise, ensuring that communication is clear and effective. By partnering with various departments, the coordinator will help to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency in cash management. The role is designed to add value to the business by consistently improving processes and maximizing cash flow for assigned portfolios. The Accounts Receivable Coordinator will also be responsible for cash application tasks as assigned, further contributing to the financial health of the organization. This position is essential for meeting the company's objectives regarding Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) targets, and it plays a vital role in the overall financial strategy of Myers Tire Supply.

Responsibilities

  • Stratify collection activities to maximize cash receipts
  • Receive and manage inbound and outbound collection calls
  • Contact customers regarding overdue accounts and determine reasons for non-payment
  • Monitor payment commitment & follow up with customer as needed
  • Analyze and inform sales, district sales manager, and credit & collections manager of credit risks
  • Research and recommend initial credit lines
  • Partner with sales team to resolve disputes
  • Communicate with sales & supervisor on top outstanding accounts
  • Research credits and communicate to the customer
  • Coordinate customer credit changes with the credit manager
  • Communicate accounts being shifted to a collection agency to managers
  • Communicate bad debt write-offs to managers
  • Maintain accurate records about the customer payment status
  • Maintain customer accounts to reflect accurate data
  • Minimize bad debt write offs through collection activity
  • Ensure company objectives for DSO targets are met through customer account management
  • Cash application, as assigned

Requirements

  • Experience in accounts receivable or collections
  • Strong analytical skills to assess credit risk
  • Excellent communication skills for customer interaction
  • Ability to work collaboratively with sales and management teams
  • Proficiency in financial reporting and data management
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
