About the position

The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for processing patient claims through the Electronic Medical Record system to ensure clean claims for billing submission. This role involves preparing reports for management, identifying issues that may delay patient record processing, and serving as a liaison between various healthcare entities and the billing company. The position also includes participation in special projects and revenue cycle optimization efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Process patient claims through the Electronic Medical Record to produce clean claims for billing submission
  • Perform all daily, weekly and monthly tasks in Electronic Medical Record related to the completion of clean claims as assigned
  • Function as liaison between Central Business Office, Prospect Home Health, Hospice and Private Duty Agencies and Billing Company
  • Assist and train Prospect Home Health, Hospice and Private Duty staff with claims preparation
  • Provide input on revenue optimization when needed
  • Identify areas of concern which may delay the processing of patient records and communicate remedies to clinical staff/management
  • Prepare reports for management analysis and review
  • Provide remote instruction on Accounts Receivable processes to staff at homecare facilities
  • Assist in developing processes to streamline revenue cycle
  • Participate in the revenue integrity process
  • Coordinate weekly meetings; maintain agendas and create project plans
  • Participate in performance improvement activities
  • Work on a variety of special projects as requested
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • 3-5 years' experience in homecare accounts receivable, hospice experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well, communicate effectively, and interact with all levels of management, employees and outside customers
  • The ability to work independently and meet crucial deadlines
  • Critical thinking skills and analytical skills
  • Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs, including Excel, applicable to Prospect procedures
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks within time frame
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills
  • Brightree/MatrixCare experience a plus
