About the position

The Accounts Receivable Specialist at Easterseals New Hampshire is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely bill processing, including collections for assigned areas. This role involves developing relationships with program managers and payers to expedite collections, minimizing payment denials, and maintaining up-to-date information on billing requirements. The specialist will also provide exceptional customer service, reconcile accounts, and contribute to the organization's decision-making processes regarding accounts receivable.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and expedient bill processing and collections for assigned areas.
  • Review and update processing to generate appropriate revenues and maximize cash.
  • Develop relationships with program managers and payers to expedite collections and minimize payment denials.
  • Research issues impeding collections and develop appropriate resolutions.
  • Maintain up-to-date information on payers' billing requirements and covered services.
  • Develop and monitor cash flow projections for all assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Work with junior staff to enhance department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients with billing issues and concerns.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable subsidiaries to the general ledger control account.
  • Provide input and recommendations related to the organization's management and decision-making processes of the accounts receivable cycle.
  • Prioritize responsibilities and work independently with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • High school degree and four to six years of experience in healthcare billing with emphasis on accounting functions, or an Associate's Degree in Accounting or Business Management and two years of experience in healthcare billing.
  • Proven understanding of the accounting cycle of accounts receivable, from generation and recording of revenues to collections and cash projections.
  • Strong familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
