About the position

Our client, located in Houston, Texas, is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist on a contract to potential full-time basis. This role will involve managing and ensuring the accuracy of funds received by the organization, along with pursuing customers for payment. The successful candidate will work in a professional office setting and will be required to maintain and update detailed customer information, ensuring accurate accounting procedures are followed. This position offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Proactively communicate with customers prior to invoice due dates to ensure timely payments.
• Maintain and update customer communication information and expected pay dates in the ERP system.
• Persistently and professionally request payment from customers.
• Apply customer payments within the ERP system.
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies.
• Process credit card payments and credits.
• Prepare and communicate Accounts Receivable-related reports.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with internal teams and external customers to facilitate payment and resolve issues.
• Adapt to a dynamic environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in an Accounts Receivable role or similar
• Proficiency in Accounts Receivable (AR) is essential
• Experience with Billing Functions is required
• Demonstrated ability to handle Cash Activity
• Familiarity with Check Processing is necessary
• Experience with Credit Card Payments is a must
• Proficiency in Prophet 21 software is preferred
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are required
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
