About the position

The Specialty Account Specialist role at GSK involves leading key activities in the sales of biologic products, particularly within the respiratory portfolio. This position focuses on providing scientific knowledge and customer engagement expertise to specialist customers, while also navigating the reimbursement and distribution landscape. The role is integral to GSK's mission of preventing and treating diseases, particularly in the areas of asthma and COPD, and requires strong collaboration with various internal teams to drive sales and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide scientific knowledge and customer engagement expertise to specialist customers in support of a GSK biologic product.
  • Understand the reimbursement/distribution landscape for specialist customers and identify appropriate resources for reimbursement and distribution choices.
  • Maintain knowledge of severe asthma therapeutic expertise and related data.
  • Provide product educational programs and in-services to customers.
  • Work within compliance guidelines and GSK values.
  • Develop strategies and tactics to generate sales.
  • Implement customer-specific strategies for accounts such as Allergists, Pulmonologists, and office managers.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Marketing, Payer Relations Managers, Medical, and other functions within GSK.
  • Effectively manage allocated resources, including financial resources.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by responding to customer requests and needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical sales/medical device sales experience for Specialty Account Specialist (grade 8)
  • 12+ years of pharmaceutical sales/medical device sales experience for Senior Specialty Account Specialist (grade 7)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel domestically, including overnight travel up to 30%.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Specialty Products that utilize the Buy & Bill or Specialty pharmacy modes of distribution.
  • Expertise in working with Payer Reimbursement Managers.
  • Biologic/Rare Disease/Respiratory Sales experience.
  • Cross-functional matrix collaboration experience.
  • Demonstrated consistent performance over time.
