About the position
The Achievement Center Enrichment Volunteer position at SBCS Corporation is an unpaid volunteer opportunity aimed at supporting youth in the community, particularly those at risk of involvement in the juvenile justice system. Volunteers will collaborate with other team members to provide hands-on workshops and activities that promote well-being and personal development among youth. This role requires a commitment of 2 to 4 hours per week, primarily in the evenings, to engage with youth and help them develop essential life skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead interactive workshops in areas such as art, recreational activities, and job readiness.
- Organize community service events like beach cleanups or food service in shelters.
- Work closely with program staff to develop and refine workshop content.
- Provide support to youth experiencing trauma or in crisis.
- Facilitate activities that promote physical movement and engagement.
Requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and interact positively with the community.
- Experience or willingness to lead hands-on workshops.
- Ability to work with clients who are experiencing trauma or in crisis.
- Friendly demeanor and a desire to serve others.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Microsoft Excel for job readiness activities.
