About the position

This Landman role will dedicate their time supporting the company's land focused acquisition efforts. This position requires you to perform at a high-level working both independently and collaboratively within the Land team and other disciplines across the organization. The ideal candidate is well organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and can balance multiple priorities at the same time. Responsibilities

  • Utilize P2Land data system, other legacy land data files, public records, and title opinions to research and determine ownership of mineral rights and leasehold interests.
  • Negotiation of business agreements for the acquisition of leasehold and mineral interest with a comprehensive understanding of the impact the negotiated deal points has on the agreement's commercial and economic value.
  • Responsible for the preparation and management of the acquisition process including but not limited to drafting deed and assignment instruments, confirming legal descriptions, verifying title, and coordinating deal closings.
  • Assist in preparing custom reports and tables for deal workflows, including mail distribution lists and deal tracking.
  • Represent Magnolia in communicating with mineral owners, surface owners, non-operating working interest owners, and other operators as necessary in support of the company's land focused acquisition program.
  • Provide support integrating acquired assets within Magnolia systems to ensure proper accounting, transfer of ownership, and reporting of the acquired assets.
  • Research and analyze land related documents and contracts with respect to drilling, production, and operations information, including but not limited to, depths held by production, continuous development obligations, critical activity dates, etc.
  • Monitor and guide external parties including field brokers and title attorneys to meet project deadlines within budgets and company requirements.
  • Responsible for supporting and developing relationships with internal cross-functional teams, including engineering, geology, marketing, accounting, land administration, and other functional counterparts as needed for acquiring leasehold and mineral interests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required. Preferred area of study in Land Management or Finance.
  • 4+ years of experience as an oil & gas company Landman, required.
  • Direct land experience in and knowledge of Texas land, required.
  • A&D experience, required.
  • RL, RPL or CPL Certification, preferred.
  • Member of AAPL, required.
  • Knowledge and experience with P2Land and Zendesk, preferred.
