About the position

The Acquisition Pathway Policy Expert - SME at Red Gate Group plays a crucial role in supporting the Acquisition Policy & Innovation Directorate within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment. This position is responsible for shaping and implementing innovative acquisition policies that enhance capabilities for the Warfighter across various acquisition pathways. The expert will leverage their knowledge to improve acquisition processes, ensure compliance with regulations, and contribute to strategic advisory efforts within the Department of Defense.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and coordinate acquisition policies, directives, and guidance, ensuring alignment with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze the impact of policy changes on acquisition frameworks, such as the DoD 5000-series policies and Adaptive Acquisition Framework.
  • Prepare accurate and timely responses to congressional, departmental, and executive branch queries, leveraging statutory and regulatory research.
  • Support the design and management of online acquisition tools, including guidebooks, glossaries, and the Adaptive Acquisition Framework website.
  • Monitor and apply acquisition innovations from industry, government agencies, and research organizations to enhance DoD practices.
  • Represent API on committees, boards, and task forces, providing expert insights into acquisition policy and innovation.
  • Provide expert advice on integrating and protecting technologies that enable Warfighter capabilities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new acquisition strategies to address emerging challenges and mission needs.
  • Prepare reports and deliver professional briefings to senior DoD leaders, Congress, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively brief senior leaders, including Flag Officers and SES members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, SharePoint, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable policies and programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Five or more years of experience developing systems acquisition policies, regulations, or guidance.
  • Extensive experience supporting a Headquarters-level DoD organization, such as an Agency, Joint Staff, Service, Component, Major Command, or Combatant Command.
