About the position

The Acquisition Program Management Specialist position within the Department of Defense is responsible for overseeing and managing various aspects of program management related to systems acquisition. This role involves assessing project progress, coordinating activities among functional specialists, and ensuring contractors meet program objectives. The specialist will prepare and present studies to management, contributing to the effective execution of defense acquisition programs.

Responsibilities

• Assess progress in assigned projects/programs including cost estimates, schedules, and performance supportability baseline requirements.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate activities of functional specialists including contracting, security, equipment, lifecycle maintenance, configuration/data management, and logistics.
• Review and direct the progress of contractors in meeting program objectives.
• Prepare and present staff studies for presentation to the Program Director and other management officials.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship Required
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent in other pay systems, demonstrating knowledge of systems acquisition and program management principles.
• Knowledge of laws, principles, policies, and practices of systems acquisition and program management.
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, clearly and concisely.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with the Department of Defense and Air Force operations.
• Familiarity with contracting procedures and technical concepts.
