About the position

The Acquisition Program Manager at Astrion plays a crucial role in supporting the Aerospace Dominance Enabler Division within the USAF Digital Directorate. This position involves managing and executing acquisition strategies, ensuring effective program execution, and providing expert guidance to program leadership. The role is essential for maintaining the acquisition battle rhythm and delivering capabilities to the warfighter, while also supporting cost and schedule reduction activities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, research, analyze and assess projects to formulate plans and recommend effective strategies in meeting cost, schedule and performance objectives.
  • Support cost and schedule reduction activities for acquisition and development efforts.
  • Provide program level acquisition support to the Program Manager and Integrated Product Team Leads to guide successful program execution.
  • Support and develop various briefings/schedules of program status and acquisition tasks to senior management.
  • Provide expert Program Management inputs to Request for Proposal (RFPs) including systems specs and Statement of Work (SOWs).
  • Review acquisition documents and provide comments to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Support, prepare, review and develop acquisition reports, including statutory and regulatory acquisition report and milestone review documentation.
  • Assist with planning, evaluating and implementing program acquisition strategies, including risk assessment and market research.
  • Assist with development, maintenance, and update of acquisition reports such as Monthly Activity Reports (MAR) and Defense Acquisition Executive Summary (DAES).
  • Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate acquisition project assignments and make recommendations to Government Program Manager.
  • Review and track prime contractor deliverables status and schedules.
  • Keep abreast of DoD acquisition reform policies and recommend revisions to programs impacted by changes.

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must have an active US security clearance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of principles, policies and practices of systems acquisition and program management as defined in DoDI 5000.02 and 5000.75.
  • Knowledge of roles and relationships within the DoD and the Air Force.
  • Possess knowledge of qualitative and quantitative techniques for gathering, analyzing, and measuring the effectiveness of acquisition programs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, providing quality acquisition and program documentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with DoD and AF policy and guidance.
  • Familiarity with risk management and assessment techniques.
  • Experience in developing source selection strategies and evaluation criteria.
