About the position

The Acquisitions Librarian and Assistant Professor at Georgia Southern University is responsible for overseeing the acquisition of educational resources for the University Libraries. This role involves managing subscriptions to databases, e-journals, and other library platforms, as well as supervising a staff member. The position is a tenure-track appointment that emphasizes collaboration with faculty and a commitment to research and scholarship.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the acquisitions of all educational resources for the University Libraries.
• Maintain subscriptions to databases, e-journals, and other library-related platforms.
• License eBooks, audiobooks, and streaming films.
• Oversee the purchase of print monographs and other media.
• Supervise one Collection Services staff member on the Henderson Campus.

Requirements

• Earned MLIS in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution.
• Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
• Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
• Willingness to commit to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda.
• Willingness to commit to professional development as appropriate to the discipline.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with integrated library systems and other library-specific technologies.
• Experience providing customer and technical support to university faculty, students, and other stakeholders.
• Experience supervising professional library staff.
• Experience with library acquisitions and working with vendors.
