About the position

The Activities Assistant plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by assisting the Activities Director in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational activities. This position is vital for fostering a lively and engaging atmosphere that supports the physical, social, and emotional well-being of residents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and conducting recreational activities that meet the needs and interests of the residents, including games, music, crafts, and other social events.
  • Engage with the residents to provide social support and promote positive relationships among them.
  • Encourage resident participation in activities and ensure that activities are accessible to all residents, regardless of ability.
  • Assist with setting up and cleaning up activity areas, as well as ensuring that all equipment and supplies are maintained in good condition.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Activities Director.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working in a recreational or social setting with older adults preferred.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and cheerful attitude.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
