About the position

The Activities Assistant at Jonesboro NRC LLC plays a crucial role in supporting the Activity Director in implementing a planned activity program for residents, particularly focusing on geriatric individuals with various therapeutic, neurological, and medical needs. This position requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to ensure that residents engage in meaningful activities that enhance their quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Adjusts to changes in unit/shift assignments to meet resident and family needs as it relates to the activity program.
  • Notifies the Activity Director of supplies needed for the operation of the activities programs.
  • Notifies the Activity Director of needed equipment repairs.
  • Assists in the supervision of volunteers during activity programs and parties.
  • Verifies that activity programs are completed timely per the Activity Schedule.
  • Responsible to invite residents to activity programs as appropriate and as determined in the Care Plan.
  • Maintains attendance records for resident activities on a daily basis.
  • Assists Activity Director with the seasonal decor of the Facility.
  • Assists in transporting residents to and from activities.
  • Maintains and delivers department timesheets to the Activity Director.
  • Maintains an up-to-date list of residents' birth dates.
  • Performs light housekeeping tasks, such as clean-up following parties and programs.
  • Maintains a clean office and desk.
  • Interacts with residents, family members, co-workers, clinical and ancillary staff in a non-judgmental, supportive, and calm manner.
  • Addresses family satisfaction issues timely and assists in resolving the matter in a professional manner.
  • Promptly reports issues or problems to Activity Director.
  • Participates as assigned in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates a positive, helpful, and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Performs varied clerical and department maintenance functions.

Requirements

  • Certified Nurse Assistant with a minimum of three months' prior nursing assistant experience in long-term care.
  • Must possess a high school diploma and a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, and walk and stand for most of the working day.
  • Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as fax, telephone, etc.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
  • Must be free from communicable diseases that pose a 'direct threat' to the health or safety of others and which cannot be eliminated by a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds, and be able to carry and transport supplies.
  • Must be able to pass a post-offer, preemployment physical health examination as a condition of employment.
  • Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation(s).
  • Must possess proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills; decision-making skills, basic computer skills; and be able to operate various medical and/or office equipment.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of safety techniques.
  • Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required.
